A pendant for a princess

Noreen first met HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan because they both actively support Mosaic, a charity that helps to create links between successful professionals and young Muslims, giving them inspiration for the future.

Noreen successfully started her own jewellery business in 2005, and through Mosaic she's now instilling her hard-working ethic, determination, and business skills in young people. During 2008, she took part in a five-week project at a girls' school in Tower Hamlets, London, where she worked with a group of girls to set up a business from scratch. HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan, also known as the Princess of Jordan, supported the same school, and visited to present the girls with certificates.

Having met at a number of previous Mosaic events, the princess often complimented Noreen on her jewellery. Then at the 2008 Business in the Community Awards, she asked Noreen to design a pendant that would represent the Jordanian flag. Noreen presented her with 10 exclusive designs, and the princess chose one with a pretty seven-pointed star. Noreen says: "The princess wanted the pendant to be elegant, but let me use my imagination to design it. I drew on the star aspect of the flag to create the pendant, then used the flag's colours to enhance its meaning. She received the pendant at the end of 2008, and was extremely pleased with the results."
